Amy Winehouse

“Amy was about LOVE” -Mitch Winehouse, Amy’s Father
I never thought I would be so saddened by the death of a creative artist that I never had a physical connection with. But, the truth is, I cried when I learned Amy Winehouse passed this last weekend. She was such an amazingly talented singer/songwriter that served as a huge source of inspiration and creative energy for me. Her Back to Black album dropped and I was amazed especially so since it came out at a time of transition in my life and really helped me get through many rough patches. Soon after I discovered the joy of Amy’s music I went out and purchased all of the Winehouse music I could find. I become a bit obsessed to be honest, and when I couldn’t find inspiration in other music, I’d always come back to Amy’s voice. Her voice is just one of those haunting, soulful, unpredictable and unforgettable gems. She will always serve as a vocal and creative inspiration to me personally. If you haven’t been affected by Amy’s contribution to music like I have, I would urge you to do some homework before dismissing the great legacy she has left behind.

These are my personal favorite Amy songs. Also, just stumbled upon a nice remix of “Tears Dry On Their Own” by Big Boi.
