NOW feat ASTRID SURYANTO: KING BRITT

Enjoy a free track download from King Britt’s “Last conventional dance album” HERE featuring Astrid Suryanto.

Zaki Ibrahim | Money (King Britt)

“My mother was an English teacher, a poet and a writer. I write in my Umi’s language. Her words have allowed me to translate my experience the way I do. To me, few see the world as exquisitely as she portrays it.” -Zaki Ibrahim

Last year our friend + epic NY-based DJ/producer OP! turned us on to the beautiful sounds of Zaki Ibrahim.  Since then she has toured the U.S. and South Africa with Mos Def whilst unveiling her EP Eclectica (Episodes in Purple).  Someone is on a roll!  Currently, based in Cape Town, Zaki is carefully churning out her first album.

In anticipation of the full album, Zaki has released a really neat video, “Money” remixed by King Britt with an insightful lens on cross-country paper chasing.

Thanks to AfriPOP! for putting us on.

Eavesdrop Radio | Broken Beat Special

Our favorite Philly Radio show, Eavesdrop Radio, does it again with an amazing broken beat throwback episode. This is a nice reminder of the genre - that some of us often forget but love nevertheless. Thanks to Junior and Lil’ Dave for always keeping it fresh.
